Emperor Meningitis

"You`re a crook, Meningitis."
"I am not a crook. Besides, I`m Emperor. If I do it, It`s not illegal
"
―Crypto and Meningitis[src]

Emperor Meningitis was the Emperor of the Furon homeworld and the leader of the Furon race, succeeded by Orthopox 14 . He was one of the main antagonists in Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon. He is voiced by Nolan North.

Overview

"Careful, I’m five hundred years old."
―Meningitis moments before he crumbles to dust[src]

Emperor Meningitis has the same facial appearance as all Furons, with dark red eyes and an elongated cranium. His face is quite wrinkled, an indicator of his age. He appears to have a few small, tube-like protrusions sticking out of the back of his head. He's quite fragile, since he appears to spend his time doing nothing at the palace. He wears a dark red robe, covered by a red cape with pointed shoulders and golden edges. He carries a brown scepter with a blue orb on its tip, in order to call upon his special bust, made in his image.

Meningitis has the typical characteristics of a senile old man, forgetful and very cranky. He's quite tyrannical and above the law, declaring himself to be exempt from Furon laws. While the details of his reign aren't clear, it's quite apparent that he must have been disliked enough for the populace to instantly praise a monkey-fied Orthopox. He seems to dislike cookies.

History

Meningitis was mentioned several times in the series but was known solely as "The Emperor" and he did not appear for some quite time. In the Fifties, he sent Orthopox 13 and Cryptosporidium 137 to Earth in order to collect pure Furon DNA from human brain stems.

Ten years later, Crypto and Pox continued their mission further, but little mention was made of the Emperor. It should be noted the revelation in the game that Meningitis had cut the budget for defense and weaponry after the Blisk war.

At one point in the Seventies, his name was brought into conversation when Toxoplasma Gondii came to Earth, claiming to personally represent him as an efficiency expert to test Crypto. He was soon discovered to be a fraud and killed by Crypto.

In 1979, a renegade Furon known as The Master hatched a plan upon finally encountering Cryptosporidium 139 by mental messages, and influenced him into a plan which implied the Emperor himself was behind the attacks of the Nexosporidium warriors and that he had been in possession of synthetic Furon DNA, meaning that Crypto and Pox had wasted 20 years trying to acquire DNA. Eager for revenge, Crypto and Pox arrived at the Fourth Ring of Furon, home to the Emperor's summer palace. After causing havoc around the area, they finally broke through the palace's defenses and met with the Emperor.

The Furon Emperor questioned why they were there and the reason Crypto (whose name was believed by the forgetful Emperor to be Klepto) repeatedly insulted him. When Crypto explained his thirst for revenge, Meningitis shrugged his words off by asserting the fact he had no idea what they were talking about and by saying that since he was Emperor, if he did something, it wasn't illegal. Crypto prepared to shoot Meningitis, who pressed a switch on his staff that activated a large, mechanical bust of himself protruding from the ceiling. Crypto, after using his new mental abilities to regain his weapons and bypass the security system, destroyed the robotic head and grabbed Meningitis while he lied down on the floor, defeated.

Crypto shook the Emperor, demanding to know how long he had synthetic DNA. Meningitis urged Crypto to be careful, as he was 500 years old. Meningitis then disintegrated into dust. Crypto exclaimed angrily and was soon dumbstruck when The Master reappeared out of the green necklace he was wearing, a one-off cloning device he had imprinted himself on after staging his death and winning Crypto's favor, all a part of his plan to become the new Furon Emperor by using Crypto to get close to Meningitis and inside the palace. Pox, in his new monkey body, smashed the Master against a wall and took up the throne of Emperor while Crypto sets out on another ten year journey to collect more, non-synthetic DNA. The citizens of Furon praise the death of Meningitis and happily rush to hail Emperor Orthopox, despite the fact he was a monkey.
