The Disintegrator Ray is always the first weapon Crypto receives that requires ammo.
Overview[]
The Disintegrator Ray first appears as a long-rifle that fires blasts of bright-yellow, explosive, super-heated plasma. As its name suggests, if enough shots are fired at a human, they will disintegrate into a skeleton before turning to ash.
The Disintegrator ray, as the first weapon to require ammo, usually comes hand-in-hand with teaching Crypto how to Transmogrify inanimate objects (or find ammunition in Destroy All Humans!.) Upgrades typically consist of additional bolts per shot, increased ammo capacity and, in some cases, an increase in damage.
DI-47/59[]
The first model of the Disintegrator Ray, with it doing the most damage out of every model. With no transmogrification in Destroy All Humans!, this is the only version of the Disintegrator Ray to not teach the Transmogrify ability. The plasma-bullets, when fired at Crypto's feet, could "damage" him, but it didn’t lower his health bar at all.

DI-47/59 (Remake)[]
The remade version of the Disintegrator Ray from the original Destroy All Humans!, featuring enhanced functionality and additional upgrades.
- Proton Clip: Increases the Disintegrator Ray's capacity.
- Proton Magazine: Greatly increases the Disintegrator Ray's capacity.
- Proton Protonizer: Turns the Disintegrator Ray into a rapid-fire weapon
- Cascade Incinerator: Sustained fire gradually increases the damage dealt to the target and may set it ablaze.
- Cascade Immolator: Sustained fire rapidly increases the damage dealt to the target and may set it ablaze.
- Tri-Fusion Chambers: Fires two secondary projectiles at an angle with each shot.
DI-69[]
This version, present in 1969, had some minor differences to its predecessor. While it doesn't do as much damage, It has a much faster rate of fire. This time however, it COULD damage Crypto when fired at his feet. Instead of having a triple shot upgrade, it has an upgrade to increase effectiveness against the Blisk after gaining a specific Datacore.

DI-77/79[]

The most recent model of the Disintegrator Ray has a new look, with the body of the gun looking similar to the Meteor Strike weapon, possibly as a callback to it. It leaves a ring trail with each shot, and the projectiles travel much faster than those of its predecessor. It starts at 125 Disintegrator Bolts unlike its previous models, and maxes out at 999. Additional shots are randomly placed near to the main shot, but it doesn't affect the gun's accuracy.

FURON HANDBOOK[]
A legacy term for this weapon, the original Disintegrator Ray--of Martian origin--functioned by firing weak bolts of energy in ray form, apparently designed to "discorporate." Furons appropriated this technology at the conclusion of the ancient Furon-Martian wars. They made great improvements to it, ultimately settling on firing flaming balls of fire at the target. They kept the name as a souvenir signifying their inevitable victory in all future planetary conquests.

Trivia[]
- In Destroy All Humans!, Orthopox incorrectly refers to it as the Destructo-Ray when giving Crypto the weapon. That was the name for the Disintegrator Ray earlier in development.
